this isn't exactly an answer to the question, but I don't know where else to really throw it out...

I'm hoping that when we go to our Hall of Monuments in GW2 we will have some sort of visual of at least one of our characters (the one we named our account after perhaps?). A picture, or better yet that character in ghost form walking around, something, anything! I just think that'd make it so much cooler, but that's just me.

Back on topic - Personally I predict we're going to get a very anti-climactic ending to EOTN, though some of the ideas here are quite amusing.

I would think that they've got to get old, fat, and have lots of babies for all your descendents to inherit your loot in the HoM. Makes the situation for people who start Charr characters a little awkward..

It should be obvious that our charcters need to settle down make the decendants that will inherit the items from the Hall of Monuments, so I forsee the cabin by the lake, hot little mesmer chick and a flock of wee ones with a gradual passing into old age.

Of course any self-respecting hero would want to die gloriously single-handedly holding off a Charr/Tengu/Killer Bunny attack long enough for said family to escape. Preferably on their 92nd birthday.

My necromancer hrrrrm he wont die he would become a undead his one and only desire (under Joko's command) and eventually toples Joko from his throne so he becomes the next lich lord and invades all of elona again! muhahahaha!

My warrior... He will die when he tries to sneak past a group of sleeping drakes and trips into one of them... poor crusader :P

Ranger... Lives in the forest hugging trees and creating tons of offsprings when she believed that sleeping in trees doesnt get you pregnant :P

arent video games supposed to be for fun? When did it matter if your character got deleted and what not who really cares. I dont play Guild Wars to grind and earn sh..stuff I play for fun. If my characters got deleted after I beat the game so what I start over again because thats the fun of it, playing through the game. its not the end of the world if you can bring your character into another game it just means a beginning to another world and time of fun!

Dont take your video games so seriously they are just games.

Wow people. He wasnt talking about killing off your character making it unplayable, and there is no way Anet will do that. They want you to keep playing your characters long after you finish GWEN. Its even possible they will have more content after GWEN (maybe not likely but possible) so it wouldnt make sense to kill off your characters. At worst it will be more of a "to be continued..." ending. Likely it will be like every other chapter and they die of old age between GWEN and GW2.

-Lays down, falls asleep, and starts dreaming.-

Hall of Monuments, monument to the heros of past ages and their knowledge and wisdom, and the spirits that guard this monument are under seige by a dark force. Lord Belissarius surveys the situation with his band of heros. They decide which course of action they will take. The battle insues. At first, things didn't look too good for the heros, but soon they turn the tide on the dark force, and kill the Master of the Dark.

As a reward for defeating the Dark Forces, the Spirit Guardians build a statue in Lord Belissarius's honor for all posterity. They ask Belissarius, "What bit of knowledge or wisdom do you wish to send into the ages?"

Old man Belissarius awakens from his slumber, his 2 grandsons and 1 granddaughter sitting there beside him. "Tell us again how you killed the Charr!"

Imagine if ANet had the technology to make the opening GW2 cutscene like your GW2 character in their Hall of Monuments, speaking to their ancestors.

ANet could possibly (again, if they had the technology) make a ghost resembling an "ancestor" character we get to choose when making our GW2 character (they will later influence other aspects of the game), either making them transparent and ghostlike and leaving their model quality in the same state (they'll look so primitive compared to GW2), or go through HUGE trouble (doubt it unless maybe the ghosts all wear the same rags or something) to update their looks. That or just make a floaty wisp thing with the ancestor's name.

You think I am being like one of those people at a mortuary who states “this is a very serious hour in which your GW character(s) lives will go down in history as well, something indifferent to history, now let’s look at the casket.” Now that would be a dark hour if it was not for me being sarcastic. Yes it’s a game and would you love to speculate your character(s) demise, (again story related)? Of course not in being realistic where death will mean the end of GW.

Again I will say this, I never ever was talking about your characters dieing off where you can never play them again.

Oh yes but your forgetting multiple accounts and bots so thats a hell of a chunk outa that 3 million there, and lets not forget the ones that have quit also. just cause theres been 3 million copies sold does not mean theres 3 million players still playing.

For a new company with an innovative project, they've been doing quite well. Would you invest all the way into a project with so many questions to be answered?

Expect full marketing and advertising by the time of Guild Wars 2. Even sooner, although in a smaller scale.

Not to be entirely off topic here, I think it's great that you'll have the opportunity to still inherit something from your old characters into what is basically a brand new game.

Right, however, the same can be said for WoW and any other game for that matter... Not to mention that as theres no onthly fee, you actually can't quit as you can in a game with a monthly fee that you'll never pay again to play

besides, i like to think that the bot farmers buying chapters as they get banned is paying to keep ANet going to let me play for free

I think our the deaths will be reveald in GW 2, maybe we connect our GW 2 account to our GW account and then the game looks for the characters that have a monument and let us choose that character, of course it will ask twice if there was a missclick. Then we'll see a clip where our old character (In new graphics and all) go to meet his/her death in an epic battle

Plenty ridiculous! So you die in GW:EN then you buy Nightfall (if you don't have it yet) and play it being dead? Hahahahaha!

(Also, I hope I won't die at the Neverwinter Nights 2 end, because I will slap your face for that spoiler, I hate fu**** spoilers)

I cant really see AN 'killing off' our characters permanently. Not only would it cause many role players to burn Anet at the stake and never come back, it would'nt make sense. After all we die loads of times and are rezzed etc.

Now it's possible they could make you able to 'relive the adventures of..' in a similar way to missions in the past work in cantha/elona etc, but again having your character die in way AN determines would leave a sour taste imho

Also, the first person to finish Gwen would post up 'don't end the story you'll die' spoilers and no one would then complete the game until 2009/10. I certainly would'nt I'd watch the end game movie on you tube and wait until the last possible time.

What will probably happen is we'll get some kinda ending (adopt a gwen?) and fade into a sunset. Leaving it up to us to decide how our characters finished off.

Not only does this make sense from a role play perspective, it also makes buisness sense in case AN decide to release future add on content.
